Hello my name is Sarah Harwood. When I started teaching music at the age of 16 my students would often talk to me about difficulties at home or school. This inspired me years later to complete a Master of Arts in Counselling, specialising in marriage, children, and families. Since then I have enjoyed helping people discover their strengths to lead contented and fulfilling lives.

I am the past President of the Australian Play Therapists Association. I am also the founder of the Queensland Institute of Play Therapy, an organisation dedicated to teaching Play Therapy. I am currently under the professional supervision of Rosie Newman, RPT, RPT-S.

Bryony is a registered psychologist who can offer assessments for clients of Blooming Heart Therapy. She has worked with children, adolescents and adults since commencing her post-graduate psychology training in the UK in 2007, before moving to Australia in 2010.

Bryony has worked with complex clients in forensic, family court, child safety, and health care settings, as well as in private practice. Bryony understands the importance of early assessment and intervention, and of working collaboratively with parents, carers, and education providers to achieve positive outcomes for children.

As a mother of a neurodivergent child, Bryony understands the challenges and barriers that neurodivergent individuals and their families can face. As such, she works hard to provide comprehensive assessments that can be used to advocate for the best possible supports for children.

Bryony is able to provide cognitive (IQ), adaptive functioning, and ADHD assessments, and will soon be able to offer ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) assessments. Bryony has completed training in the assessment and diagnosis of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and can provide a provisional diagnosis of FASD when working in conjunction with a paediatrician.
